Default Russian community in Tampa Bay

Hi everyone, just moved from NYC to St. Pete (big change). I love it here, but I am a little home sick for the large Russian community we had in NYC..~1,000,000 live in NYC. Well I was just wondering if there is anything here anyone can recommend. My husbend and I have not had a chance to meet any other Russian couples. Thanks

There are hardly any Russians or Eastern Europeans here in my experience. Definitely cannot compare to NY, and even much less than in the Midwest!! Miami is more diverse, in my experience and has more Russians. There are a couple small Russian stores, have you been? One is the tiniest grocery I have ever seen, it is in St. Pete Beach. There are also 2 in Tampa, both tiny, one is on Waters Ave and the other is on Kennedy Ave. This may be a good place to start to see what is in the area.

Edit:I just realized this was from 2008.

I think St. Pete has a larger Eastern European community than Tampa. I've seen a few Bosnian and Croatian places along 4th Street. I don't know if I've seen any Russian places, but I really haven't been looking.

There is no way to compare NYC and Tampa Metro area. According to statistics, there are approx. 125K russian speaking people in the Tampa metro area, although that estimate may be a bit low now. People here seem to be very integrated but I run into russian-speaking people all the time.

Ironic... "St Petersburg"...

On the other hand, El Paso, Illinois doesn't have any good Tex-Mex food...
