Default public trans & AA meetings?

hi, i am moving from lancaster, pa (without a car) to either the st pete or tampa area. i am wondering how the bus system is in those cities and since i'm in AA, sober for 2+ years, i really need a stable environment without a big drug scene and with meetings.
thanks for any help/suggestions.

Any major city will have a drug trade and most will certainly have more drug trade than Lancaster.

That being said, if you keep to the meetings and get a good sponsor then you should be able to avoid it.

The transit system around St.Pete is pretty good, someone else will need to chime in on Tampa.

One of the County Commissioners told me recently that they have really worked to improve the bus system and that public transportation is a biggy on the local county budget. Before Tampa Bay puts in a rail system, the bus system has to be operating smoothly and efficiently. You can read more about the HARTline including maps and schedules on their website at Welcome to HART.

Teresah,

First of all, congratulations!
Most communities have their own website and usually they have an event calendar. Where I live, I noticed they have an AA meeting sceduled, so I guess most have one.
Like TampaKaren mentioned, take a look at the Hartline site.

Good luck,
San

IMHO you should look for a place around S. Tampa or Westshore if you are going to depend on a bus. They don't run after certain evening hours which is a downside. Hopefully that will change. Check the schedules and AA meeting places and hours. Of course, you may be able to get a ride with someone once you go to a meeting.

You can come back and ask for recommendations using zip codes. Also your rent budget.. that is important

Well frankly the Bus system in both are lousy. But Tampa is probably better.

PM me if you want, I've been sober since 9-10-97. I'll be glad to talk to you any time.
