Default Best Place in Tampa for Young Professional!

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if I could get some advice about where a good place to live in Tampa is? I am moving to Tampa from Detroit, and I'm a 22 year old female. I'll be working in Oldsmar, but I'm very unfamiliar with the area. I don't want a very long commute, but I wouldn't mind compromising a little longer commute to live in a better place. I'm looking for an area where there is a lot going on (bar/club scene, shopping, water, small shops, etc) I would LOVE to be near the water. I'm looking for a high rise building preferably near a nice area. My price range is between 700 - 1000. Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions!

Check out areas of Hyde Park and along Bayshore Blvd; Also Harbour Island, downtown/Channelside. Craigslist, tbo.com or a realtor should be able to find you something around 1000 in a highrise. I have a few friends paying less than 800/mo in Bayshore Towers(Bayshore near Euclid Ave). You would be about a 20-25 min drive to Oldsmar.

I 2nd that post. Sounds like those are probably your best bets if you will be working in Oldsmar. Although the commute from Channelside & Hyde Park may be a little bit of a ways to Oldsmar.

The commute will be a bit further but you will at least be going the opposite way from most of the rush hour traffic once you get past Kennedy.

There are some apts on the Courtney Campbell Causeway that are on/near the bay which would be closer to Oldsmar. There is one restaurant/bar right by the apts, however, if you want a variety of nightlife your best bet is Tampaguy's advise.

Ybor city (30 mins) and downtown St Pete (45 mins) will be your best nightlife, as you can see they're somewhat far from Oldmar...There are some good spots in clearwater which is closer to Oldmar...

I guess it depends what's the most important to you...If you live in st pete beach, you'd be right next to the ocean and walk to the bars...But have a 1 hour commute to work.
