Default NH Family looking to relocate to safe, affordable area in Tampa

My family has lived in smalltown NH for ten years. Our town is small, safe (I often leave my house and car unlocked, can take walks alone, etc..) but don't like the winters. We have three children aged teenage to elementary. We are a young couple living on a budget and want a safe, small town feel, with great schools, 30min or less drive to beaches. I have family that live in the Carrollwood and Egypt Lake area, would like to be within hour or less drive to them. Any suggestions?

Which one, egypt lake or carrollwood? I am very familiar with both, and they are extremely different. Carrollwood is pretty nice, but in egypt lake you would not be able to leave doors unlocked or walk by yourself at night. It has pretty high crime. Also, if you are not hispanic, you would stand out.

Thank you for your reply. Family lives in both areas. What do you know about the Lutz area? Also, Blake High School? Thanks.

okay I used to live in Tampa and clearwater . My son went to blake high school it is in a terrible high crime rate neighborhood and I used to work over the river at the armeture works which is no longer there . No to blake high school , it is in an unsafe neighborhood . all of our cars got broken into in that neighborhood and right in broad daylight and with cameras on the building no less . sorry would not reccomend it . Of course that has been many years ago it might have changed by now not sure . I am not trying to be negative but want people to be safe .
