How is Holiday?
Can anyone give me an overview of Holiday?
The prices look almost too good.
Any info would be appreciated

Pattiv-
I believe someone had commented on Holiday several days ago, maybe even a week ago. Try looking through old threads. They said something about the area starting to go down and something about it being a biker hang out. I don't recall if these were their exact words but they are similar to what was said.

Thanks, Jewels.
That would not be my cup of tea.
A realtor friend [ Orlando] called me yesterday to tell me prices in Tampa are down 20-25 %, FYI.
On another note, many people are leaving to go to TN, Georgia, and
the Carolinas according to another friend in Naples.
Thought that was interesting.

I spoke to a realtor in the Tampa area last week and she said the same. She said she has seen sellers coming off their asking price anywhere from $5000 up to as much as $40,000.
Just from reading through city-data forums I have noticed that there is a growing trend of people relocating from Florida to NC, TN, and GA. Other places, as well, seem to be having a lot of people relocating to these areas too. Mostly places like CA where they say they have been out priced by the cost of living.
If you read through the NC forum, you'd be surprised how much more activity it gets than the FL one. In fact, I think it gets more activity than the FL, KY and TX forums all together.

My niece lived there and ugh. It's less expensive, I think, because it's not very nice. I'd say it has a "white trash" kind of rep. I hope I don't get yelled at for saying that. I lived in FL a long time and that's unfortunatly what I have come to understand. The name is lovely, the place ... not so.

I've lived in FL for 18 years and have seen Holiday continually going downhill. It is not a place that I would recommend. There is a health food store in Holiday that I used to go to but stopped because the strip center that they are in continually has people hanging around who look pretty scary. Remember that old saying "You get what you pay for", well it's true regarding Holiday.

Don't cross off Holdiay just yet
I've lived in Holiday for the past 2 years and it really depends on where you want to live and your price range. I live west of US 19 in a subdivision called Key Vista. Very nice homes, deed restricted, no WT, etc. It's basically a suburb of Tarpon Springs.
East of US 19 can be sketchy though, just be aware of each area. Go a bit further north in New Port Richey for a bit nicer area. Remember Holiday is a speck on the map, so to generalize all of Holiday as bad isn't true.
If you're in the 250-400k price range, there are some good bargains in Key Vista. Not a realtor, etc. but just thought I'd put some truth to the tales of Holiday.
Oh yea, taxes are cheaper in Pasco County than in Pinellas or Hillsborough. See this site: http://appraiser.pascogov.com/ click on records search - you'll eventually get a map that you can navigate around to see various areas, what houses have sold for, taxes, etc.

Thanks, there is so much truth to the statement "it depends where you go"
That applies to almost anywhere.
I saw some nice affordable homes, and we really do not want to spend more than 250k.
Schools are not a consideration, as it is the 2 of us.
Do you think Vista Key is in our price range then?
How close are you to the beaches?
Thanks, again,
Patti
