I want to move down to the Tampa area but I have asthma and I'm afraid of the very hot weather and all the pesticide spraying they do down there for mosquito control. Any advice? Maybe I shouldn't move to Florida?

I guess it depends...my father-in-law moved here to help his asthmatic condition, but I had a friend who had to move up north because he's allergic to oak pollen and it set off his asthma. Go figure!?!

Floridians work in AC, they live in AC and they drive in AC. I LOVE FLORIDA.

The majority of the mosquito spraying is done late night/early morning so that it does not effect too many people.

With the different types of asthma the only one that can tell you for sure if an area will be ok is your doctor.

I know many people whose asthma is more affected by cold weather than hot weather.

Oak pollen will be heavy certain areas and time of year.

Thank you. I am looking into filtration systems that can be added to central AC systems. If I move down there that would be advisable I think with my asthma.

I think it is a frame of mind of living with the heat. Up North it's the cold. Everywhere has pros and cons. I like the idea of living somewhere where you can wear sandals, shorts and a tee shirt all year long!

I guess I'm an exception to the rule. I never use air conditioning, especially when I'm driving.

I crank the A/C down to about 70 degrees, rent movies, go out after 5 o clock rush hour. Get a season pass to a good waterpark. Get a big umbrella, go to the beach. When outdoors stay in the shade as much as possible.

You just answered your question. You said you're "afraid of the very hot weather". We have plenty of it. Infact its close to 90 degrees and higher from about late April-late sept.
