possible move next year to tampa...please help! (Palm Harbor, Lutz: mortgage, house)

My husband and I currently live in Northern Va and may be moving to Tampa next summer. Does anyone know of any great neighborhoods that are family friendly near the city of tampa? Possibly near the zip code 33612. that is the zipcode where his company is located. We'd like a 30 minute or less commute, community with pools, tennis, lots of kids, good schools etc.

Is Riverview a good area? I want a friendly neighbhorhood, people doing stuff together, community activities, etc. We'd like to have a mortgage payment between 1500 and 2000 a month.

That zip is around Forest Hills. I would suggest Carrollwood (33624) but there are some nice little places in Forest Hills but many of the homes are older. Lutz is also another good area. I will leave it to our experts as to what amenities you can expect. You do want to beware of HOAs and CDDs which can add $$ to your monthly payment.

The drive from Riverview I think would be over the 30 min drive you are looking for but there are some good deals there.

Try New Tampa. Riverview is supposed to have a family friendly community also.

You sound like me! My husband and I are looking for a new place to live also. WE are from south Florida nd moved to Baton Rouge 4 years ago-well, Baton Rouge has changed quite a bit from the nice, friendly town it used to be due to many 'people" moving here after Katrina. It has changed for the worse, although there are still some great things about this area. Anyway, I have been looking at Palm Harbor and Lutz. I heard there is a great area in Lutz with affordable housing called Heritage Harbor. Check that one out! Good Luck with your move!

Thanks for the replies! I hope the move happens, but I just don't know. My husband's company has a big office down in Tampa so he is hoping he will be able to convince them to hire him on down there. So it will all depend on that. And what to do with this house is another issue. The government apparently will pay the appriased value of our home, but not sure where i'd come up with the rest of the money!

Caa do you already have jobs down there?
