thinking of moving from NY to Tampa area (Clearwater, Palm Harbor: home owners insurance, houses)

I'm currently living on LI and we are considering a move to the Tampa area in Fla. Looks like my husband could get a job in either Tampa or Clearwater. We have 2 school aged children, any suggestions where a good family neighborhood would be. I'd like to be close to the beaches if I can, and shopping but want to be in a safe family type community. I don't want to have to pay cdd fees.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Work in Clearwater and you have your choice of some excellent family communities close to the beach and wonderful parks. My recommendations are Safety Harbor and Palm Harbor. Both are also a reasonable commute to downtown Tampa.

Thank you for the information. I've been looking at houses in that area online, they seem alittle pricey for what we need. I'd be looking for a 4 br home with pool. The other problem I have with the pinellas is I read there is a possibility of sink holes. And because of this the home owners insurance is very costly from what I read. This area does appeal to me more than Hillsbourough.
