Talking Homeowners Insurance Brando Fl

Hi,
We just purchased a house in Brandon Florida, and are looking for an inexpensive homeowners policy.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Paul

You can check here too if GEICO doesn't work for you.

I don't understand what all the Geico hype is about, to be honest. I've given them a try on a few different occasions for insurance quotes, and they're more expensive than every other insurer I've used or received quotes from.

I've never used this insurance company for anything, but their homeowner's quotes seem to be the most reasonable. Beware, though, that I've only received quotes from them, so whether their quotes are accurate or not (or if it's just an attempt to impress, then upsell), remains to be seen. When we finally find a house, we plan on looking into them some more.

First Home ins. Florida.
First Home Insurance Company

My previous HO ins. stopped writing in Fl and this one took over...we had the same coverage but had to pay way less.

Um...I checked them out and they don't mention their AM Best's rating but rather a rating from "Demotech" which I have never ever heard of.

Suffice to say that a company that was founded in 2005, is cheaper than your previous carrier and seems to have limited assets (like 75million but insure something like 25,000 homes) seems a little dicey? Yes, they have reinsurance but that still seems like some low surplus relative to insured value of the properties that is probably up into the billions.

Did you go through an insurance agent to get insurance from them? If so, you are probably ok...they cover their butt from lawsuit by typically not placing business with financially weak carriers. I would still consider asking your agent what their AM Best rating is...anything lower than A- is run screaming time.

I am in the insurance business and shop around whenever I can. Geico has always worked for me. Living in NY and only paying 320.00 per 6 months for auto insurance sold me!!! Geico is direct and thats how they are able to be so inexpensive. Great Customer service too.

The problem is FL.. It is almost impossible to find well known HOI and if you do, they usually limit the # of ppl they insure and where they insure.

At one time a friend of mine's HOI was 20K a year because she lived on a canal in a 200K home. Ins prices have come down since then because of these newer companies.

More competition is ALWAYS good for the consumer....which is why Crist saying "we don't need State Farm, good riddance" is pretty dumb.

The DOI is currently not really approving ANY rate change request (Not just home and auto but ALL types of insurance) pretty much expect more companies to follow State Farm and USAA's business approach in FL. Availability issues are just going to keep growing.
