Valrico's a great place for families. The only downside is if you have to travel to Tampa for work. Traffic gets congested during am and pm rush hours. During daytime hours, getting around is fine. I do think they need a movie theater in that area rather than the Regency in Brandon. I hate going there and will travel to Ybor or Channelside theaters instead A new Target at 301 and Bloomingdale is going in. So you have another choice if you like Target and want to avoid that mall area in Brandon.

We moved from chicago last july to fl. We looked EVERYWHERE including Valrico. Found the traffic there intolerable as well as the variance in the people living there. Also the homes were way overpriced! We ended up in New Tampa area. We found the schools to be better as well as the area. Wesley chapel is also nice with lower taxes than we are currently paying in Hillsborough. In any area you move be aware of new flood maps that are going into affect as well as sink holes and insurance costs. Good luck!!

Had a friend that moved to this town called valrico. She was single worked in tampa, and she hated it, lasted one year. However family is the key word and you said family, big difference, it is definitely more for a family than the single person, however on areas that don't involve single or married. She said, the traffic was horrible with absolutely no infrastructure whether it was valrico or that town next to it Brandon, one big mess, building everywhere, and there was not a wide variety of people. I am not sure what that meant, although I did visit the area once, I can't say I cared for it either. I could understand what she meant about way overpriced, and very crowded conditions. Either way she left and moved back here to Oregon, her opinion and others on here are personal views on the place, they may or may not be your own, since you have visited there, you know what you like and don't like. Good Luck

I moved here from NY 3 years ago and I love it.
I respect everyone's opinion but you should take a look for yourself before you decide.
Yes it is crowded but compared to NY it's nothing. Yes there is traffic but if you work 9 to 5 what place isn't.
If you need assistance in finding a place let me know as I am a Realtor and will be able to help you in this process.

I've lived in the central Florida area a long time. If a person is coming here for work, you better have a job before you get here. All in all, a person has to weigh whats important to them in deciding if they like any area. this whole area has some of the worst planning I've ever seen anywhere. Builders are allowed to do whatever they want it seems. Such as being allowed to build a subdivision, when there are no good roads to support the level of people that will live there. Thats common around here.
But many people learn to accept that, and look at the other pluses. the weather is probably number one. Summers are rough, but winters nice. From most of the area around, only an hour or so from the beach. never a shortage of places to take kids for something to do. plenty of free things to do also.
This area is different things to different people. its all about perspective.

A nice area with good schools and close to shopping. I live in Brandon and like the whole area. Very family oriented.
