Young Professionals in the Feather Sound Area!
Hi!
I recently moved from Gainesville to St. Pete / Clearwater for a job, and I've been living and working here for a month. I live in the Feather Sound area. So far, I've found it hard to meet people of my age and make friends. I'm sure there's plenty of young professionals living here since there's quite a lot of places to work around here - but there doesn't appear to be a forum or a bulletin board or something like that through which people can communicate.
I'm a professional guy -24 years old, and not really too much into the bar scene. I'm looking for real friends. Anybody else has the same problem? Any tips or recommendations?
Thank You!

meetup.com has lots of groups where you can meet ppl with same interest. Creative Loafing an entertainment paper found in different places like restaurants might have something for you.

Finally! I also live in the Feather Sound area, and I just moved here in August. I am 23 and you are right, there are not a lot of people our age here! Message me if you would like to talk some more!

I had the same issue here in Tampa when I moved here. Even now to this day I only know 3 people. I guess I have not too much in common with most people my age-26, 2 kids (7 yrs. & 3 mons), and engaged. I have one good friend who has a lot in common with me, but the few other people I have met were not "real" friends.

I think that is more the norm now a days because so many ppl move around that it is hard to make new friends. I had a lot of friends at work, only a few from outside of work and no one in my neighborhood. If you have children and work you really don't have much time for anything but work and the kids.

Keeper you may be right - moving around is definitely a reason! I think it is particularly hard if you're single and new in town - particularly if you're not too big into bars and sports. Those are fun places, yes, but I don't know whether they're places to find 'real' friends!Plenty of people in my age group ( both single and non-single ) appear to have this problem! I find it funny that I don't know even my neighbor!

Well, you know, you could put together a 'get together' for the Tampa CD folks. Maybe a picnic or lunch somewhere.. You could post a poll to find out who is interested/ dates etc.
You are right, if you meet someone in a bar they might not remember you in the AM..
Check out some of the groups.. maybe you can find some fun things to do.

Thanks Keeper - your idea of a get-together sounds cool. I think I'll work on it
You've been really helpful - thanks again!
