Default Tarpon Springs 55+ Apartments?

I am about to pull my hair out looking for apartments & or trailer park communities for seniors. My Mother is moving with us this summer to tarpon springs & wants a senior community (not assisted living). Her social security is not much, & would like to stay below $600.00 a month.

Every site I've been on has no prices & wants you to fill out an application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any areas outside of Tarpon springs will be OK, but we want her close by!

Thanks so much!

Try Savannah Cove in Tarpon Springs.

Thank you! I do have that one on my list...well, that's the only one on my list so far.

I don't know if this is realistic, but speaking to my Mom today, she would rather pay $400.00 a month...I don't think that is possible. I just don't understand how other seniors do it on social security.

There are a number of 55plus apartments available in the area for a percentage of income, generally thirty percent. The county operates some of these, goodwill, the Catholic churches, salvation army, and others also operate such units as well. You might contact Pinellas County or city of Tarpon Springs governments for more information.

Thank you. I know my Mom is hoping to avoid having to call people, since it can be such a run-around & people don't seem to care...(I'm the same way..I hate calling since most of the time you get someone who don't do their jobs well at all)...but since there is little info on-line, I'm afraid she'll have to make some calls.

Its a shame but the 55+ apt complexes do not advertise very well or at all. Many if not the majority are income restricted and there is a definite I don't care attitude by their employees. Its all over the country like this. I looked at several in the Tampa area and they were not well maintained and were in high crime areas. At times if you go on rent.com you will find a 55+ community that is also income restricted run by private companies. The rents are rather ridiculous for the the tenant age group many are over $600 a month plus utilities for a small 1 bedroom, yet they are income restricted. Best of luck, Try the rent.com and enter the communities you are interested in or just enter Tampa and or St Pete and the places should pop up for the Bay area. Best of Luck.

I know in Tampa there are several 55+ apts where the rent is reasonable. One is Rocky Creek where the apts are trailors made into apts. I delivered Meals on Wheels there and met some of the nicest ppl. They have a club house where they play bingo and have other activities. They also serve meals and have a van who picks up residents and takes them to the club house or to shop outside of the park. They also have someone who will help with meds or just be there while the person showers etc.

I am sure there are places like that in Clearwater.

Thank you for understanding...that's what I thought as well. I found Savannah cove at Rent.com....but I couldn't find an advance search option for senior communities.

The apartment complex my family will most likely be moving to is very reasonably priced, but a bit more than what my Mom wants to pay. Plus, she wants the peace & quiet & not have to deal with the younger crowd.

I just don't get it why they don't advertise well. I'll try googling trailer home parks in the area, but doubt I'll get very far.

Thank you! That sounds great! I'll see if I can find anything online about it.

I plan on getting involved with meals on wheels myself when we get there!

I did volunteer with them and it is very rewarding. So many seniors don't have anyone to talk to and they look forward to your visit.

You might email these folks
