Some thing to ponder... What effect would that have on Tampa. I think it would be a boom to Tampa as well as other parts of Florida. I think it's time to drop the embargo.

It would be a boon to the wider American economy, actually. It's embarrassing that the embargo hasn't been lifted already, actually.

I used to be against dropping the embargo, but have since changed my mind. I'm pretty sure things would only get better for the Cuban people if it were dropped. Apparently Cuba already gets a fair amount of tourist traffic from Canada and Europe, but can you imagine what would happen if 350 million Americans could legally travel there?

I don't think the current regime could stay in power long if their country is overrun with American tourists. This will open more opportunities for capitalism as there will be a great new need for tourist related businesses. And, over time, hopefully entrepreneurs would emerge that start non-tourism related businesses.

I also think this would erode the probability of Cuba becoming a proxy for a Russian or Venezuelan military threat.

As things improve in Cuba we'd no longer see people floating over in barrels and that sort of thing. And we might see a greater cruise ship market... for example, ships leaving from Tampa and spending a couple days in port in Cuba.

I realize this is stereotypical and anecdotal, but the Cuban-Americans I've known in FL have been wonderful people. Whatever happens, I'd like to see the people of Cuba get the opportunities they deserve. The "real Cuba" (outside the published resort photos) apparently isn't very nice.

I think it would be great for Tampa and for Cuba, too. Trade and tourism. It would greatly improve the cruise itineraries out of Tampa if Cuba became an option and that would increase tourist activity in general. I would expect an explosion of growth and innovation as Tampa and Cuba reconnect. I would also really like my Cuban friends to be freed of these ludicrous restrictions about how often they can visit their familes.

I think this would be an excellent opportunity for both countries as well as the city of Tampa. I just hope they, the politicians, don't do a partial opening and drag it out for years. Hey!, I'm willing to send Hillary down there tomorrow to get things started. After all, she's willing to give "Hamas" a billion $$$ to fix up their back yard, why not ours!!!

I believe it is time to start the thaw.Just think how the American car companies could benefit from importing new stock.Rusting cars from the 40s and 50s are "quaint",but let's get this opportunity going before the window closes.
