Tampa has amazing character … Pinellas has incredible beaches. The Tampa Bay area is a GREAT place to be all the way around.
I ditto that. The expanded Tampa Bay Area is the best region in Florida to be, in my book. Something for everyone.

Wife and I were saying "something for everyone" in the Tampa area this morning. I am sure Denver has much to offer but snow skiing jumps to the front in my mind. I try to avoid orthopedic disasters and close encounters with trees.

I agree with this especially the Channelside/Port and East Tampa Areas...they look really run down and nasty especially on dreary days its like a whole different world.

I'm so happy to see this post!
I have been debating moving to the Tampa area from South Florida (for many many reasons).
Had always heard the people in the Tampa area were so much more down to earth than this area (I'm originally from the midwest and have been in South Florida since '95).
But I've received replies from others who strongly urged me to write Tampa area off my list.
Part of their reasoning was that they said the area's for the super rich or super poor.. no "in betweens" like myself.. I get that that's pretty much the norm where ever you go now.. but what do you Tampa lovers think? I would love your input on that.
Happy Friday!

Middle is crappy- again it is the city as whole ,they spend a zillion on adding (and removing) speed bumps for the Carrolwood affluent areas and leave pot holes and cracked unkept sidewalks along the main drag-- Dale Mabry. And rem it is NOT a metropolitan multicultural city-- think of it as a big town...need to drive up n see for yourself if it is your cup of tea. Good points are fishing- parks, and other outdoors stuff. My pick Clearwater,,, last thing- much cheaper than S.Fla ,,, clothes, haircuts, food, even gas.
