Default Where to stay short-term in clearwater/tampa area while apartment hunting??

Where would be a decent, affordable, and safe place to stay (besides an expensive hotel) for a couple weeks while I'm apartment hunting around the clearwater/tampa area? Any help is appreciated.

You could rent a vacation rental condo/house for a few weeks or a few months. Much cheaper than hotels, and they come fully furnished. That's what we did.

You can find them on vrbo.com and of course, craiglist too.

You can also set up an apartment long distance (via fax, phone, and mail). This way you won't have to spend the extra money for a hotel or a temporary residence. A good place to find apartments online is www.apartmentguide.com and a good place to read reviews is www.apartmentratings.com or www.apartmentreviews.com just take those with a grain of salt because most people go there to complain, not say anything good.

I suggest you ask here on Apts you are interested in.. While I agree with Mquinta you can not go by what ppl post as reviews on some websites but I think you will get good info here.

Vacation rentals might be the way to go especially if you aren't right on the beach the rent will be cheaper.
