Wesley Chapel in a sentence...and I will take off for grammatical errors!!
Ok...so I have posted a couple threads asking around about Tampa and such and I do appreciate the input. My wife is leaving for Florida in the morning! And I will be following in a couple of weeks once I tied up some work stuff here in NC. She will be staying in Orlando for the first few days while checking out some apartments. I am pretty sure that we have settled on Wesley Chapel area.
But I have a question about Wesley Chapel...If you had to describe it in a sentence what would that sentence be??????????

Crowded, mosquitoes, alligators and long waits in traffic. Lived there for 8 years and glad I moved from area.

I don't personally live there, but I know people who do, and LOVE it (Seven Oaks to be exact).

This does not sound like Wesley Chapel to me.
We are also looking at this area. We spent some time in Wesley Chapel last year and added it to our list of towns we will be taking a hard look at when the time comes.
The OP already knows Florida has the mosquitoes and alligators but I do not remember Wesley Chapel having a traffic issue or being crowded when we were there.

Depends on where in Wesley Chapel. Traffic around rush hour on 54 is unbelievable. There are parts of 56 that are congested. They are working on the roads to widen it to relieve some of the congestions. I do believe with development going on, it will be very much needed. There is supposedly another mall being developed, adding to the congestion. Once it is fully completed, it will be Florida's largest outdoor mall. However, it has been many years in the making, with many problems complying with the environmental issues.
We live in Tampa Palms, and are regret that we did not buy into Seven Oaks.

Mosquitoes will only bother you when you live close to the water...otherwise it just as anywhere else unless you don't maintain your yard.
Wesley Chapel, is great and we enjoy living here. More and more shopping has opened over here which saved us a lot of gas. There are very nice communities and although the property taxes in Fl are high (of course lower due to the housing crisis) it is still lower than in Hillsborough County .
There are very good schools and you don't have to pay extra since IMO they are better than the private schools we had our kids in before we moved here and now they are in public school and we are having much better experience with the public system.
Good Luck and you will find a nice cheap place to live...this is the best time to move!

not all bad....
Be prepared to wait for extended times on Bruce D Downs in the morning and evenings, if your going south on I-75 in the mornings and returning north on I-75 in the evening. Christmas time is even more fun.
I lived in Meadow Pointe for 8 years. Yes it was on water, but there is a lot of water there and any where you walk in the evenings you get eaten alive. That's why the county sprays from the "bug mobile" and from choppers.
Yea, we had alligators in the back yards, I had an 8 footer that tried to eat my lawn mower. I also killed many snakes, diamond back rattlers, water moccasins and copperheads. Had deer in my back yard as well as a bobcat. Other that that it wasn't that bad!!
O yea, there are a lot of stores..

I just wanted to add that if you live on conservation without a pond in the back yard you might never see an alligator getting in your yard but in other peoples yard. There are also things you can buy so snakes will stay away and if you buy a home that isn't on conservation you still can have a beautiful property without all these issues.
By the way I'm from Europe and we had mosquitoes, bees, wasp, etc... during the Summer months which could be very annoying. I used to get stung all the time, way more than over here.
St. Rd 56 is almost extended and when it opens it will relieve a lot of traffic from St. Rd 54 so you will be able to travel a lot faster.
I heard from a undercover police officer who was speaking at a meeting in our community that meadow point has gangs and people should be aware of it and call the police if they see anything suspicious....unfortuantely there is proof that gangs are in meadow Point and last week one gang member got life in prison without parole for executing 2 17 year old boys 2 years ago. He and his buddies lived in Meadow Point....the positive thing is that 1 gang member is locked up for life! I rather have that alligator!
