Default Single 40 yr old professional male relocating to Tampa area

I am a 40 yr old single professional male and will be relocating to the Tampa area next month for a new job. My office will be located in Palmetto, FL. I want to rent for the first year and willing to pay $800-$1600 per month. What neighborhoods would be best to live in? I do not mind a 30-40 minute commute.

I would like to be located in an area to meet people. Not into the club scene but like local pubs, live music, sporting events, festivals, museums, beach, parks, and restaurants. I am open to condos, townhomes, houses, and maybe apts. Recommendations for any specific residential buildings or complexes would be great.

Is Sarasota an option?

Thanks for your help!

If you live in Tampa/Brandon/Riverview, you'll going in the opposite direction than rush hour traffic.

I'd consider Sarasota or St Pete (use the bridge everyday).

Sarasota is a beautiful area with a great downtown area. The whole area is nice but there is also sketchy areas too so definatley roam the tampa area before renting.
I currently have a rental in apollo beach for $1000. It is a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo with 6 units in the building. Sarasota is a busier place then apollo beach but a nice rental more expensive. There are pubs and restaurants all within walking distance. The gulf is 3/4 of a mile down the road. Clearwater is also beautiful.
