Comparing Middle Schools: Osceola, Seminole, or Madeira Beach?
We are looking at moving to Largo/Seminole areas that will be zoned for one of these 3 middle schools. Any feedback/experience with these schools? We have already looked at GreatSchools.net, but hoping for feedback from anyone on this forum. TIA!

My kids both did Seminole Middle. There is opportunity for advanced programs in math/science that enabled one of mine to get into IB program in high school. Osceola is a fundamental this year, new, but will probably be good, if you are coming in at 6th grade. Otherwise I think it's still regular. I never heard anything bad about it. Mad beach had a marine bio programe but I think it's going to be scrapped (not sure) as it's also becoming a fundamental this year. Again starting with this years 6th grd. I think it's going to be somewhat overcrowded as they are merging another south county fundamental in here which is closing. Overall I'd say Seminole for the middle unless you are starting at 6th, then maybe take a visit to the two new fundamentals. You need to consider where you are going next though for high school - that's the key, or you may have to move in 3 years!
DM me if you want to talk specifics on areas.

Fundamental vs Regular Middle School
Does the child have access to the same number of Honors/Advanced Placement courses in the Fundamental school as he would in the Regular School Program? If it is a "traditional/fundamental" school within a school program like Osceola has, is the child only exposed to a limited number of honors courses?

Hmm that's a good question and you know I am unsure. Look at Pinellas County Schools - School Choice Plan Home Page
I would think there should be a choice, as Mad Bch was trad with a magnet before and Osc was trad also. The school board switched it since my two were out of the lower schools, so I have not kept 100% up on that - however, you have made me make a point of checking it out myself for future buyers in my neighborhood.
