Can someone explain carrollwood's boundries?
Hi my husband and I have done a bit of house hunting in the Carrollwood area with a realtor who is unfamiliar with Carrollwood, unfortunately. Can anyone list the different Carrollwood areas (I know there's Carrollwood Original, Carrollwood Village, and.......?) Does each different area have it's own character? And, can anyone tell me the borders of each area and/or of all of what is considered "The Carrollwood Area" of Tampa? Thanks so much. I just don't "get" this Carrollwood thing. (We are 60, so the schools aren't important to us other than for resale value.) Thanks again for any help you can give.

As IR back in the mid 70s, Dale Mabry was a 2 lane road and the original Carrollwood was in the country. In the early 80s Carrollwood Village was built along with other subdivisions named "Carrollwood' Carrollwood was from Busch to Orange Grove, to Erlich to Gunn Hwy. Carrollwood was 'the place' to live back then. I don't know if the area has any set boundries or if they have changed over the years.

Thanks, that gives me a little bit of an idea. I know it's sure not in the country anymore! I had heard it used to be THE place to live once Temple Terrace lost that title and before Westchase gained it. Carrollwood is still very nice from what we saw, though. Maybe someone will jump onto this thread and be able to shed some light on the current difference in the Carrollwood areas, if any. Thanks again.

I just moved to Carrollwood ("original") and like it very much. Although I am very much a newbie and would defer to more seasoned residents I have come to think of "Original Carrollwood" as the area bounded by Dale Mabry to the West, Fletcher to the North, Armenia to the East and Busch to the South. I'm not as familar with the Carrollwood Village area but I would say that is the area basically to the West of Original Carrollwood. I have also heard of "North Carrollwood" to refer to the area North of Fletcher in the Lake Magdalene area and even North of Bearss.

Hillsborough County has defined the Greater Carrollwood area here HCCBPP - Carrollwood | Home Page. Most of us disagree with their boundaries and it's regularly disputed.
I've lived here 25+ years and in my mind, Carrollwood borders are south = Busch Blvd, north = Bearss Ave, east = Armenia Ave, and west = Turner Rd.

The link you provided makes Carrollwood seem huge, stretching it all the way to Lutz and Seminole Heights! However, I lived for years in the Lake Heather area and always told people I lived in Northdale/Carrollwood/North Tampa.
The truth is, the lines blur, and neighborhood names become less accurate and defined over time. Personally, when I say Carrollwood, I think of the intersection of Fletcher and Dale Mabry and the surrounding areas. The Fletcher to Busch, Dale Mabry to Armenia definition is certainly the original and most conservative definition, but I tend to include to Forest Hills area and Carrollwood Village in my definition.
