The Mustang Drive In Theater that was on Park Blvd now publix and lowes.

Sunshine Stables and a few other barns in the area that have become housing developments. I have always wondered if those people find horse shoes and other horse stuff in thier back yards. I just imagine a child finding a hoof pick in the back yard and wondering what it was.

Default Led Zeppelin at Tampa Stadium

Saw Led Zeppelin at Tampa Stadium in 1977 I believe. It was early in June and many kids in the area skipped their high school graduation ceremonies to go to the concert. Anyone remember what happened at that show to make it so 'memorable'?

If I can recall, it started pouring rain which incited a riot? There were no more concerts there for many years after that. What was the first band after that to play in the stadium again? I think it was either Paul Mcartney or The Who. I saw Pink Floyd there in the mid-80's.

Default Led Zep

Exactly. One of our famous summer afternoon downpours and the band freaked out left. Concert over. They told the crowd about an hour later then all hell broke loose. Tampa police on horseback and in riot gear wading through the crowd clubbing people. The perfect 70's scene.

Default Drag Racing on McMullen-Booth Rd

The road was four lanes in the middle of nowhere. We had a quarter mile marked off. Start line was just north of the current Countryside High School and I think the finish line were all spectators parked was about where the soccer fields are now located. Guys from both sides of the bay would be there after midnight on Saturdays and race. The cops would just cruise by and keep going as long as no one was racing when they were there. We had look outs of course. The good ole days.

Yeah, that was a big one. I have some pictures of it. I think I posted some in the Tampa Bay picture thread. If not, I'll post some in this one.

The Eagles in 1980 were the first concert after the Led Zep mess.

What a bout Picnic Island in Port Tampa. It used to be just trails thru the trees than the City made it in to a real park with paved roads and bathrooms.
