Hello all....

Does anybody have any first hand experience with VA loans here in the Tampa area???? I talked to two different mortgage companies today and they both sounded pretty ignorant to the process! I think that I knew more than them...surprising cause they were both fairly well know and large companies. Anyways...any input would be great if you can recommend a mortgage company. We don't have a real issue of credit or income...just want the process to be smooth.

Oh yea...and before you suggest talking to our realtor, we are in the process of changing. I can't even get our current guy to call me back!

I have a few that I work with that are very good. It is not always the company itself sometimes it is just the person you get on the phone may not be the most knowledgeable in the office.

I have run into some issues with lenders that were not up to date on all VA requirements and it can get frustrating.

If you like I can PM some names and numbers for you.

The VA has a regional loan servicing center in St. Petersburg. Have you tried contacting them? Here's a link http://www.homeloans.va.gov/. I took a training course in January and I was pleased to hear how many changes have occurred. Processing time for appraisals has been reduced and they promise a 5-day turnaround or less. In years past, it took extra time for VA approval.
