The VA has a regional loan servicing center in St. Petersburg. Have you tried contacting them? Here's a link
http://www.homeloans.va.gov/ . I took a training course in January and I was pleased to hear how many changes have occurred. Processing time for appraisals has been reduced and they promise a 5-day turnaround or less. In years past, it took extra time for VA approval.
