When that happens, do you have the option of taking her to other area hospitals rather than leave her in the ER for 3 days?

Bad experience at Brandon Hospital, I was bitten by a dog and bleeding, they said I had to wait 4 hours and the waiting room was full. I couldn't even see a nurse. I left and went to Tampa General and a nurse saw me and put bandages on my fingers which were torn apart. I arrived at Tampa General around 7:00 PM and didn't see a doctor until 2:00 A.M. I live in Atlanta now and we have great hospitals. I wouldn't want to ever go to Brandon or Tampa General.

You have to provide your own transportation to take her out of the ER because if the hospital did it it would be patient dumping and illegal.

Thanks for all the comments. I've noticed some hospitals are posting their waiting times on their websites. Are they accurate?

I was in a bad car wreck when a guy hit the drivers side of my car. The firemen were extremely helpful and so were the paramedics. I was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center and was well cared for. Thankfully I didn't have any broken bones. They were very caring and took their time when moving me.
I was scared and shook up and they really calmed my nerves.

I have heard horror stories about emergency rooms but thankfully my experience was a good one.

The Brandon wait time was accurate when we went.

It’s been my experience with emergency rooms in general that if you want to be seen immediately you need to arrive in an ambulance.

That said: Have had two bad experiences with Brandon Hospital and two great experiences with St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Curious how often the average American goes to the ER. I've been fortunate - 46 yr old and never had to. I guess now I've cursed myself.

I used to say the same thing BucFan and the next thing I knew a guy hit my car and I was on the way to the hospital.

From what I understand because a lot of people are uninsured they use the ER for medical help since most private doctors are too expensive when you have to pay cash.
