I am thinking about Tampa/St. Pete as a possible location for me to move to (for the same reasons: weather, beach, etc.). I will most likely work in an ER at a hospital. Any experiences for on people's ER visits or work experiences in the various hospitals in the Tampa/St. Pete areas?

Thanks.

One good and one bad experience....the bad one since they let my mom sit at the ER for 8 hours with a bloody face after a fall and her nose was broken!

The good one since my mother in law was on several occasion in the ER and they knew pretty fast what was going on and although I was there 3 times and for hours, at least we knew what she had and no time was wasted.

University Community Hospital on Bruce B. Downs, you wait forever to be seen! They did not seem to be that busy. I guess there is more going on behind closed doors or they are very understaffed.

That sounds about right. I'd sooner go to a veterinarian than Brandon hospital again.

Probably because too many people use the ER for non-ER reasons - making real emergencies wait. That's the state of healthcare in USA over the last 30-40 yrs.

Twice at Brandon Hospital in the last two years both with severe stomach pain that turned out to be bleeding ulcers. Triaged within five minutes, in a bed within 15 and seen by a doctor and given a shot of pain relief soon after. Not to mention that the entire staff from the guards up front to the cashier were as nice as can be. Far different contrast from over five years ago when I was stuck in the waiting room with kidney stones sandwiched between a couple who had just returned from Europe so ill they could barely prop each other up and a lady who kept puking on the floor.
