Does anybody know if there is any rain or stormy weather or any systems of bad weather forecast for later this week? My family has an unexpected opportunity to take a vacation in clearwater beach from may 14 to 19 but it looks like storms are coming. I read that when rain and storms are forecast that it doesnt always rain there, so I am wondering if i should be concerned about these storms and rain that is forecast because i dont want my vacation to get ruined by rains and storms. I know there is no guarantee, but i just want somebody's opinion to help me understand your weather forecasts. Would we be better off to save our money and take it later or is the forecast they are predicting not usually happen anyway? I heard you are having a dry spell. Are they calling for rain this week? Please help me with any information. thank you so much.

It is the dry season still. If we are lucky, the daily afternoon thunderstorms will begin to form at the end of the month or in early June. If it rains before then, it will either be because a front sweeps down from up north (unlikely, unfortunately for us) or because the summertime pattern sets up early. In my opinion either of those scenarios is unlikely and you will probably have a dry vacation, or perhaps a brief shower. Although you may find yourself wishing it would rain like we are.

As for waiting for later, that will make it more likely that you will experience our typical afternoon showers, unless you mean waiting until fall/winter.

Check here.. it looks like it is going to be pretty dry during that time frame. If there is only a 20-30% chance of rain that means that there will probably be a shower somewhere in the Tampa Bay area but not a wash out.

Hi again! You need not worry about the weather. It rarely rains in the morning or all day. Mostly they are afternoon events and only lasts a short time. If you plan to do your activities in the morning and early afternoon, you will be fine. Trust me, it is not like Canada, where if they predict 60% chance of rain, it rains all day. It is not like that here. Keep your eye on the sky by around 3:00.

I know you leave tomorrow. You will have fun on your first family vacation! Enjoy the beach, restaurants, and all the activities Florida has to offer.

You will have to let us know how your trip went when you get back to Canada. You will see. The weather won't be an issue.

So what happens today? The first day of the summertime pattern, with intense afternoon thundershowers complete with hail. LOL! Well, I am more than happy to be proved wrong in this instance.

At any rate, as other posters mentioned, it is unlikely to interfere with your vacation since such showers are scattered and short-lived.

With the front coming in they are forecasting heavy storms for the next 10 days.

It may only be the afternoon though.
