My boyfriend and I currently live in Orlando and want out! We were looking at moving to the Tampa area. Not really looking directly at Tampa but the surrounding areas. So far we have looked at St. Pete and Clearwater. He would be working at either Tampa General or the hospital in St. Pete, so travel time would need to be considered. I think he would be ok with a little less than an hour drive. Any suggestions as to decent places to live?

In St Pete, Old NorthEast, 4th St area, Feather Sound would be worth exploring, In Tampa you might consider Rocky Point or Westchase/Carrollwood/Citrus Park, East of Tampa you might consider Brandon, Riverview. Just a couple ideas, you did not go into rent, buy, etc.

We are really up to anything as far as renting or buying... if we buy we just want to be sure its safe and would be a nice place to eventually start a family. Thanks for your input!

If it is Tpa General I would suggest Davis Island if you are renting or S. Tampa.

If it's Bayfront, there are a lot of nice places to buy or rent around downtown. For the future, and you want state schooling, St Pete can be tricky unless you go private. Seminole, North county Palm Harbor Eastlake areas, offer better state schools. However north might be tricky for access to either Tampa or St Pete jobs. Seminole is not bad, my husband used to work at TGH and we lived at Indian Shores then Seminole. Its probably 30 mins to TGH via Gandy/Bayshore or same of less to Bayfront via Alt 19 and 2nd ave S
