I said SOME. Gainesville for example has the 20th and 87th ranked HS in the nation in some recent ones that just came out.

Moved from LI to Spring Hill. Lived there for 3 years.
I wouldn't do it with the age of your children. This is a warning. They will be bored. We moved back to Long Island from Spring Hill and it was not easy but worth it. Now that I am back in NY I see how much happier I am and more at home. If you have family around there, that's nice, and if that is the main reason then I guess for family it is good. This is a warning. Not to ruin your vision. But it will be WAY too different, way too downgraded from what you are used to. Downgraded meaning in size, things to do, suffocating weather, lack of interesting scenery, school quality, etc. Just too much you are giving up believe me. Good luck nevertheless it might work out better for you. Just my story. Just talking about that particular area, not the entire Florida. By the way, I have a 17 month old daughter and 5 month old son, and i am so relieved to have been able to escape living there. Once you get a house there, you might not be able to sell it for years so THINK TWICE or PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE rent first. Take my advice. Find a nice rental home in a nice area it will be cheap and worth it. Live in that rental house or apartment for a few years if you have to before buying. Try out different areas if you can by renting first. We are lucky to have been able to leave, you might not be that lucky.

She hit the nail on the head?
She said the kids would be bored. Her's were 5 months and 17 months, how did she know they were bored and if they were bored at that age it is the parents fault.
She also claimed the schools were terrible. Once again 5 months and 17 months, were they that advanced that they were already in Elementary school?
She also mentioned a lack of interesting scenery. Guess she missed canoeing down the Weeki Wachee River, going up into the preserve or maybe checking out the caves about 25 minutes north. There is also the coast about 10-15 minutes away. Could be she equates more stores with scenery.
My children went to school here and I was very pleased, they were also always out doing things.
My mother used to tell me "Only boring people get bored", I used to laugh at that but the older I get the more I see how true it may be.

The Weeki Wachee Preserve, Withlacoochee Forest, Chashowitza Preserve, Homosassa Springs, etc.
There is a reason they call it The Nature Coast.

The poster said they were a teacher. Landscaping is non-skilled labor.
Anybody who does non-skilled labor is going to face a very tough job market.
However, an educated person with some skills can find work, maybe not right in Spring Hill, but Brooksville, Hudson, Port Richey, New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs just to cite a few.

Don't believe everything you read in the newspaper.
Here is a recent, verifiable fact for you to consider:
California had the most dropouts of any state (710,000), with a 14.4 percent dropout rate among 16- to 24-year-olds.
