Default Question new Belleair causeway and traffic on W & E Bay Road in Clearwater at rush hour?

Hi all,

I am still job hunting even though I found a part-time job writing curriculum but it's only "up to 30hrs/wk" and mostly online work so I'm still looking for a full-time position. The job up in Holiday didn't work out which I think it is for the best. We leased a condo on Sand Key and move in next week. Holiday would have been too far to drive.

Has anyone been over the new Belleair causeway? Just wondering....I read where it is now open to traffic. Looking to avoid some beach traffic by taking the new causeway most of the time, especially commuting home from work. We will be living about 1.5 miles from the Belleair causeway.

I've had 2 phone interviews and have a 3rd scheduled Friday for what sounds like a promising position not far from St Pete airport. How bad is the traffic on W and E Bay Dr during rush hour? Google directions note door-to-door is 11 miles one-way with a 26 minute drive time. Does this sound right? Figure it will take longer at rush hour, anyone know for sure?

Cheryl

I'm not sure if you're under the impression that the new causeway is a new road. It's really just a new bridge than replaced an old drawbridge. I think it's still two lanes. Regardless, the Belleair area doesn't have as much traffic as Clearwater Beach or even the St. Pete Beach area. As far as Bay Dr, I'm sure it gets somewhat congested, especially the eastern part.
