Hi, I am in Temple Terrace. Is there any good place that I could catch some relative big blue crabs?

I do not have a boat, simply want to take my family there for fun.

Any detailed address?

Thank you very much

Few concentrations of blue crabs in the bay- many of them stay on the grass flats, but some are also found in tributaries like the Alafia River and Cross Bayou in Pinellas.

Not much in the way of a recreational crabbing industry in Tampa.

Ditto, its really not worth the effort. I had reasonable luck last year hanging some traps off the Skyway North Pier on a full moon night. We ended up with about three dozen good crabs in a 10-12 hour span.

Blue crabs are not an easy find in Tampa Bay. You might check out on W. Hillsborough Ave Upper tampa bay park. I have seen folks with lines out there on the flats

Even if you manage to catch blue crabs here, they just aren't worth eating. Your best bet is to order in fresh Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab meat. I've often said that the only thing I really miss from Maryland are the crabcakes...for a peninsula in some of the most abundant waters in the world Florida is surprisingly devoid of flavorful crabs. I use Linton Seafoods ( Buy Maryland Seafood Online, Order Fresh Chesapeake Bay Seafood, Delivered ), which is located in Crisfield, MD. They overnight everything on dry ice, and often have really good deals. Stoney's ( Stoney's Seafood House ) is also great, but a bit pricier unless you catch them on a sale.

Upper Tampa Bay(Double Branch and Rocky Point) is good, but to get to the good grassy areas you're gonna get muddy and wet!

Have always had good luck off of the dock at Bullfrog Creek (hwy 41) with just a net, string, and a piece of chicken....

Used to be able to find them easily. Upper Tampa Bay (590 bridge), the old railroad trestle at bay pines, couple other places. Doesnt surprise me if they have been over caught.

I have to agree with Crazy there are not a lot of blue crabs in the bay area. In 30 years I have only seen 1 person trying to catch them and have only seen them sold live in the flea market and you had to get there early to buy them.
