Temp Staffing Agencies in St. Petersburg
I know that the job market is terrible right now, essentially, all over the whole United States.
However, I was wondering if anyone who lives in the St. Petersburg area is currently working or has worked in the past through a temporary staffing agency?
If yes, what are your opinions of the local temp agencies?
I have plans to move to St. Petersburg, possibly even this year, and am trying to get an idea of how feasible it will be to do temp work until I can land a more permanent job. I am an administrative assistant with ten years of experience in office environments; I have a paralegal certificate, but would actually prefer to work in someplace other than a law office.

Ultimate Staffing in downtown St. Petersburg has been good for friends of mine. Ask for Kurt.

Thanks for your reply and for the info. I'm a long way off from looking for work there just yet. I'm just trying to sort out all of my options.

My wife and I have both been through temp agencies before. when we moved down here 3 years ago Kelly Temporaries was the first place I went to and was set up with a job right away with Wells Fargo which was a great job and they eventually hired me. Of course this was 3 years ago when everything was ok. My wife was laid off from her job last year and immediately went to Office Team in which they did place her in a few jobs no longer than a week each with decent pay, until she landed a permanent job
From what my experiences with dealing with temp agencies is that you have to try to make yourself stand out from the rest of the people. Emphasize the fact that you have 10 years experience. Once the agency gets a call from an employer you will be the first person on their mind. Call back often and try not to turn them down on jobs that only last a few days.

to add to this seems like the going rate for most of these jobs were around $12 an hour range.

That is great information and excellent advice (which one can apply with any temp agency and yes, I've worked for a few). Thanks.

cameraLens, you are quickly heading toward a horrible reputation on here.... every post of yours i've read lately is a one sentence "hateration"!
"There are no jobs here, don't move here!"
"Temp agencies suck"
Neither of those responses are answers to the questions being asked. Please stop.
As for temp agencies, I've had a few friends use Spherion with good luck. Give them a try.
