Default Brandon or Palm Harbor?

I've read a lot of helpful information on this forum about these two areas but am wondering if I could get more feedback on Brandon or Palm Harbor. Any responses would be very appreciated.

From what I can tell most people say really nice things about Palm Harbor, but the commute to Tampa is a real con if one is working over there. On the other hand, Brandon is a closer commute but people seem to say that it is really congested and full of traffic/sprawl with some less than desirable neighborhoods.

I don't really mind the commute to North Tampa as I don't have to do it that often; however, I'm wondering more about which area is quieter, safer? I'd like a laid back (as much as possible) atmosphere that has some more alternative, artsy offerings and outdoor sports opportunities. Plus, the housing market is a consideration for the down the road. In Brandon it looks like you can get more house for the money but the resale might not be as good as Palm Harbor.

I am looking at the Lakeview Village area in Brandon 33510 and 34684 zip in Palm Harbor. Any thoughts on which might be a better fit?

Have you been to either area?? If not I would reconmend that you visit both. I would also reconmend that you travel the areas during the rush hour periods and also see what it is like during the day at different times. That would help you in making your choice on where to live. Just an idea.

I agree...visiting the areas would be a good idea. Palm Harbor neighborhoods just suit my taste more than Brandon. If you want laid back, neither really are. Both areas are busy. PH is of course closer to the beach if that interests you, but Brandon is closer to access I-75 and I-4 if you'd like to travel the state.
If you're looking to commute to N. Tampa, have you considered the "New Tampa" area along Bruce B. Downs Blvd.? Even just north of that is Wesley Chapel which is more laid back. Even Land-O'-Lakes or Lutz might work for you.
