Default Attending a conference in Tampa next week

A group of us from Dayton OH are visiting Tampa next week for a conference. I've sort of checked out the trolley system, but could not find out if there is one that goes to a beach. A couple of us have been to the other coast several times, and we wanted to checkl out your side.
We looked into renting a car for a couple of days, but it was too expensive, and the hotel we're staying at charges $20 a day to park there.
We are also looking for some reasonably priced interesting places for dinner near downtown. Any ideas?

For some reasonable good dining in downtown Tampa, check out Cafe Dufrain on Harbour Island; Thai Thani, Oisha, Splitsville in CHannelside; Hattricks on Franklin; Taps in Skypoint; Fly on Franklin; Paninoteca on Franklin; Eddie & Sams Pizza; First Watch for breakfast or lunch; Moxies for sandwhichs; Bamboozle Cafe for Vietnamese.

As far as getting to the Gulf beaches from downtown Tampa - you will need a rental car(about a 35 minute drive to CLearwater Beach-busy or Pass-a-Grille Beach-quiet)
