My husband and I are looking at relocating to a larger city. I am currently a nurse in a trauma ICU in a city with population 150,000 and I want to be somewhere in a level 1 trauma center that is cutting edge. I know that Tampa General is just that so we are traveling there in August to check out the area.

What areas are good areas to live in and raise a family up to a 30 commute from the hospital? We would like to check out the neighborhoods that would be places we could live and have a family. We are looking at renting $1500-$2500 per month. Any suggestions of where we should look?

I was just looking at rental houses. How are areas like Temple Terrace, Land O Lakes, Valrico, Lutz, Fiddlers Cove and Arbor Green?

Also look at Bayfront Center in St Petersburg, a massive hospital already attached to All Childrens, and currently undergoing a zillion dollar enlargement. That would put a lot of Pinellas county (already an option if you are TGH) in close range. If that is the case, then consider mid county, if you have state schooling in mind. Seminole area has good ones. Or if you are going private, then old North east St Pete is great for either hospital option. Lots of property to rent just now, NE has a lot of delightful turn of last century florida homes, as well as newer options.
