Exclamation USF wants school to explain athlete's grade changes

USF wants school to explain athlete's grade changes

The student in the picture is an excellent athlete. What isn't mentioned in the article is that his SAT score raised a red flag as well since his SAT score wasn't so high. He got like a 870 score, if I remember it well. The story broke over a week ago and many people know the student in question since his mom who is very well respected mom, Assistent Principal at Thomas E. Weightman middle school and a very good singer. Since so many people know her this story came as a complete shock, first of all since she is the proud parent who liked to talk how well her kids are doing and how he was going to stay close by being excepted into USF on a full ride, and second since she is working in the educational system. The outcome of the SAT is shockingly low and many couldn't understand why he didn't take the SAT earlier and retake it a few times....so maybe a lesson for others. Don't retake a course unless you have a "F" in the course and take the SAT at a young age so you have time to retake it and get used to the test.

USF taking kids with horrible grades for football is nothing new. One of the reasons they've been able to build the program so quickly is due to taking just about anyone. They ranked last in grades recently in a report for BCS schools.

I guess because of the probation the recently had at the St. Pete. department of USF, they are more cautious to take new students. This student had already signed as seen in the picture and of course it was devastationg to him and his family but on the other hand they must have known what happened to his transcript...specially with the high position his mom is at the Middle School next door to his High School....
