I'm interviewing next week for Brandon Regional (OR)- any thoughts on working for this hospital?
I also wanted to call USF to set something up while I"m in town, but keep reaching 'dead ends'. Any info on who to reach?? Already been to their website.
thanks!!

Oh, and any other hospitals you would say is an ok commute from Brandon on the off hours ( 7-7p) would also help!

no, I already did and on allnurses.com- needed it to be specific on OR which tends to be quite separate from the rest of the hospital...

there are some recent threads about Brandon Regional, but can't remember OR specific discussion - hope you didn't take offense at my response - I'm in your shoes and may be looking for RN job soon, maybe even in Brandon.

If you've got any interest or experience in Home Health or LTC, you've got quite a pick. With over 12 years in OR, I don't want to go into a new specialty.I visited University Community, but was not impressed. I was really hoping to get an insider's perspective of the Brandon OR.I like USF online, but can't seem to track down an actual nurse recruiter!good luck!

James A Haley VA Hospital has Magnet status, from what I read. Good pension and 401K w/ matching funds for employees. You're taking care of America's finest (wounded soldiers and war vets) too. Of course, the facility looks outdated. Personally, I like teaching facilities in order to provide the latest technologies, medications, techniques, etc. Good luck w/ your search.

James Haley has a long reputation for (trying to be tactful) less-than-stellar care. I'm with you on the teaching facility preference, but I'd steer clear of this one.

I also wasn't terribly impresses. You know they forget how the initial contact from HR can make a huge impact on the overall feel of a place. After filling out an enormously long, time consuming, very detailed 'package' for them ( everything from English language requirements to experience ), the guy says "now, I need a copy of your resume, license, etc. I was like WTF????? I told him how it was so time consuming and thorough to fill out his papers, only to come back for the exact same info...not a good sign. I'm sure he was like 'whatever', but I was done.
