I am moving back to Tampa after a long absence. I was born there and lived there (Brandon) until after high school. I've been back a few times, but don't have the pulse of the area anymore.

I plan on attending Erwin, and was wondering about the area around the school. Is it a good area to find a place to live, or would it be better to commute from another area of Tampa.

It's really spotty. The area east of Nebraska and north of Sligh up to the river is good. Sulpher Springs is still crime-ridden. Seminole Heights proper is still good. The area north of Hillsborough just west of Florida along Central Ave is pretty good. Old SE Seminole Heights is going through a re-gen...one street can make a difference. The area along Highland is still nice, too.

I wouldn't live south of Hillsborough within the vicinity of 22nd Street.
