Default Where to buy fruits/veggies for canning (Brandon/Valrico area)

In plant city there is the agricultural farmers market. Its where the produce stands buy their goods.
Its open to the public daily around 6:00 am give or take. It's usually closed up by noon. You can get about everything there, but the best deals are on the items currently in season. If you head to the back, you will find the pickup trucks and trailers loaded high with produce. Its about 10 acres in size so the selection is really good. Since a lot of the stands carry the same goods, it pays to shop around. Haggling sometimes works but is not necessary, but realize the vendors have to make a living too. In all, there are a bunch of nice folks who will go out of their way to help you.

To get there, go north on Hwy 39 in plant city about 2 miles. The market is on the Northwest corner of 39 and Sam Allen with the entrance on Sam Allen road.

From Valrico/Brandon, its about 15-20 minutes away.

Tysvm!

How do I find out what's *really* in season? I checked out the FL dept of Ag and they say strawberries are nearly year round but the neighbors told me Plant City berries are in season Jan/Feb. Will there just be an abundance?

There's a very large produce market on East Hillsborough Ave, too. I went once...didn't care to buy a case of lettuce. Similar to the previous, I think they open every day around 3-4am and close before noon.
