No, closest would be Clearwater Beach. You'd still have to pay for parking.

Actually, there is some free parking at CB although it is usually full during busy weekends.

Yes we found it (the free parking)...after all, the only draw back was that there were no bathrooms around....so for those who went there at the end of CB (towards Caladesi) end up pretty much SOL from that stand point!? or have we missed them somehow????

Actually, there is another area that has free parking. If you're driving on the Rt. 60 bridge towards the beach, there will be a big unpaved parking lot to your left, just before the roundabout. You need to make a U-turn and it's basically right there. There are plenty of public bathrooms in that area, by Pier 60.
