Hi,
I'm new to Tampa and interested in joining a coed softball team. I'm 25 years old, female, and need to meet people and get some exercise. I live in South Tampa.

Thanks!

Default Tampa Sports and Social Club

I found the link to Tampa Sports and Social Club in this forum, and wished that I had never found it.

Please check out the Better Business Bureau rating for the company, and do a web search of other people's experiences. They are GREAT at taking your money. Read plenty of reviews, and then make an educated decision....

Smile Great league

The Tampa Sports and Social Club is a great club in my opinion. You probably didn't play in my league for coed Thursday evening. Everybody comes back every season and the new owner and management is great. They just changed their website and they run their leagues a lot better than the county or any other league I used to play at in NY. If you call them and tell them about your issues, they usually will work something out for you. Good luck.

Hi guys and gal(s),

I'm 45 yrs old; in good shape, currently live in Seffner/Brandon but drive in to Spring Hill to see the family each weekend. I'd LOVE to play co-ed softball again. I played 1st base in my high school and college days in Queens, NY, and won golden glove awards each year at my position. Anywhere in between those two points would work fine for me.

LuckyPrincess1965, you had said you wished you'd never found Tampa Sports and Social Club. May I as why?
Are there any other good leagues you know of?

Thanks very much!

Bobby

Default TSSC is a sham

to answer your question, search BBB to see complaints for TSSC and google search. The director of this club does not have a business license and the website shows teams and leagues that don't exist. It may have been good at one time, but MANY people have been ripped off by this organization. Don't be surprised to wait months, years even for your league to start.

Yes, Bobby. Because they recruited me wildly to join a league that was "filling up fast ~ only two spots open" I joined with the expectation of getting to play recreational sports with the money that I paid. But there are no sports teams, and there are no games. I've been waiting three years for the "season" to begin. Lots of excuses and "explanations" offered by Mr. Grant Sampson. Happens to everyone who I have spoken to that has signed up ~ you pay money, but there are no sporting events.

If you do your online research, (and it doesn't take much) you will find that this is not an organization that you should get involved with. He has a fancy website (which recently lost its security certificate) which makes people feel it is legit, but there's nothing behind it. Money goes to support the "president" of TSSC and his living expenses.

It is a shame that well intentioned people on this website continue to give out his information, believing that they are helping people.

Try Tampa Bay Club Sport. That is a legitimate organization ~ and no, I am not affiliated with them at all. Have never even played for them, but have done my research, and hope that everyone who reads this will do the same.
