Default Just Transferred to Tampa - Need some advice!

My husband just received a transfer to Tampa. We have lived in the Ft. Lauderdale area 15 years ago, but are not familiar with Tampa. We currently reside in Pennsylvania. We are both in our early 50's. This is probably where we will stay when he retires should we find that we really like it there. We would like to check out maybe a villa or 3 bedroom house perhaps in a gated community. We want a neighborhood close to shopping, restaurants, etc. - somewhere where we would feel happy staying there after retiring and not be the only older couple in a community of just young families. My husband will work in downtown Tampa, but will travel 10-15 miles to work for the right location. Does anyone familiar with the area have any suggestions for us? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would check out Westchase, West Park Village may meet your needs, zip 33626.....about 8-9 miles to Westshore, another 3-4 miles to downtown. You could also check out Brandon, Riverview about 15 mins to downtown via Crosstown Expwy, or Old NE St Pete. If I were you I'd rent for a while and get to know Tampa Bay area.

You should probably look around the Sun City area (zip 33573). It's a bit further than your DH wants to drive, but it's a popular place for active adults.
