Hey everyone! My name Is Kelly, and i currently live in central area of New Jersey. I love it, don't get me wrong, but i would love warm weather almost all the time, lol. So i am almost 22, and my boyfriend Brian is almost 21. We have been together for over 5 years now, and it is getting to the point where we want to move out. I never in my life thought i would leave New Jersey, but i really want to move to Florida, and so does Brian.

We have 1 semester left here at our community college which will be over in December. If we move we would plan it in January, establish recideny for 1 year then complete college when it's cheaper, lol. We have some worries though. Most of them are leaving here and leaving our good jobs. We work at a grocery store, lol, but we have been there so long and make awesome money for a part time job and we have plenty saved up. We want to know how easy is it to get a good job in Florida, or the Tampa area? We'd have our 2 year degrees, so i think we would like to work somewhere other then a grocery store.

We also don't know wether to rent or buy. I see so many apartments for about 600-800 a month range. It seems like the smarter thing, at least till we know we want to stay. I don't know, i guess i'm just looking for someone to tell me a little bit about the Tampa are and about the job situation. I would really appreciate anyone's input! Thanks ahead!

I think you will like Tampa (great place for the young), I would advise you to rent for now, and job market should be OK for you here. Doe a "search" at top of page for Tampa, for more info.

Good luck!

For rentals, look into craigslist.com or tbo.com for private condos and townhomes for rent. South Tampa is an excellent area for your age, lots of activity, and youthful, close to most city lifestyle offerings.

The best thing for you to do is to read all of the Tampa posts here and then think hard about moving here. If you have to come then its a done deal but make sure its what you want to do.

I work for a consulting firm and find people positions. It is a great place to live, but salaries are not as high as what you might be used to up North. It is just as expensive to live here as it was for me in Atlanta, and other large areas and the money is not as good. Love the area, they just do not have the salary levels caught up for most of the population yet....
