Good ice cream near USF?
Hi all,
I'll be in Tampa (at USF) for a robotics competition with a couple dozen students this weekend and we'll need to get our ice cream fix. Any recommendations? I'd like to avoid creameries and fast-food joints. Anything comparable to Swensen's, Friendly's, etc would be great.
Thanks,
-Neil.

There's a Dairy Queen on Fletcher near 22nd and one on 56th around Fowler, both close to USF. There's a local place on Florida near Broad called Bo's. It's a ten to fifteen minute drive from the USF area, but it's pretty good.

A real good ice cream can be found at La Unica Michoacana,2800 N McDill Ave. It is a special ice cream made from Natural fruits. Not the usual ice creams....

Bo's sounds like the place we're looking for. Now I get to call and see if they can reserve a space for 2 dozen. Thanks!

There's no inside seating at Bo's, just a few picnic tables outside.

Most of the ice cream places I have seen have a limited seating space or outside tables , but always very limited.
Guess it is because many people just eat it and leave, or they take it to go.

FWIW, we did go to Bo's. About half the group went to Golden Corral for dinner and that apparently included some types of dessert, so they did not join us for ice cream, so it was a smaller crowd, and we found out about the no-seating thing. Ice cream was good.
