I'm a 23 year old coming out of five years in the military and I'm moving to the Tampa area to attend USF in the spring semester. Where would be the safest area somewhat close by USF for me to start loooking at apartments?

Tampa Palms, also directly north of campus and directly east of campus.

Wow I'm in the same boat as you.. just waiting on the wife to get done with her contract and we'll be attending USF.. I've done a lot of searching and found a place that looked really nice and in our price range just by the campus call Village Oaks. Of course I dont really know if this a nice area but I'm sure its crawling with other students which could go either way. But it seems very convienient to everything.

I actually have been looking in the same area only because I'll be working in the hidden river park area and don't want to make the commute from westchase....just checked out the village oaks, it looks very nice, very quiet and a nice mix of people...you have college age, families w/ children

There are a lot of complexes up along Bruce B Downs as well, we're checking a few of those out this week

Be VERY careful when choosing a place to rent. I would go check out to Tampa Palms just a better area.

Tampa Palms only. The immediate area of USF is unsafe.

Lots of students live in the immedaite area of USF---immediatly to the North of campus, and to the East of campus, and some to the South in the area where Adventure Island/Busch Gardens is located are a few nice student complexes.
