I work right off the Howard Franklin (St Pete side) but need to go to Temple Terrace a lot, so I'm looking for a place in the middle where it's safe and convenient for traffic. Is this a good/safe area? I'm looking specifically at the Cove apartments. Thanks!

The Cove apts are older but have been updated so they do have washer/dryer in them now. You are right on the bay and there use to be a lot of parties at the bay pool. They have always been a good place to live however as with any apt complex no place 100% safe. Bayside West in general is safe. The biggest problem is getting out on Westshore during rush hour.

Bayside West is a VERY safe and convenient neighborhood. Euclid Ave to the north, Manhatten Ave to the East, Gandy Blvd to the South and Westshore Blvd/Tampa Bay to the West.

Its a very walkable neighborhood, the stretch of Westshore Blvd from Longfellow Ave to Wallcraft Avenue has almost everything you need (Florists, Delis, Meat/Fish Markets, Dry Cleaners, over a dozen restaurants/bars/cafes, Pharmacy, Conveniece Store, Gas, Auto Mechanic, Banks, Spas/Salons, Doctors/Dentists, Farmers Market, etc.)...
And then there is Manhatten Ave from Euclid to Gandy that has all denominaitons of churches, more shops/retail, the Library, a Boys and Girls Club, and at Gandy the chain fast food and pharmacys. The Hartline #19 Bus runs through Bayside West to downtown every 30 minutes from 5am to 10pm.

There is one apartment complex called The Cove that sits along the Bay, I know a few people that love living there, mix of professionals, blue collar, young and older - great sunsets along the Bay. Most of the homes were built in the 40s/50s, those on the West side of Westshore Blvd are larger homes, some waterfront, $$$, and those on the East siode of Westshore are a mix of professionals, blue collar, some people that have lived there since the neighborhood existed to first time home buyers...there are fixer uppers, and McMansions that coexist aside each other.
