I'm going to be visiting my brother in Brandon soon and I was thinking about bringing my dog. He is a chow mix and loves when he gets out of the house so he can run around town. I was wondering where I could bring him so he could run off the leash but that is far enough away from traffic that it wouldn't be a problem. Any parks or wooded areas around? What about pet friendly beaches? I've never been to the tampa area. Thanks!

Closest to you in Brandon I think there is still a dog park in Seffner called Mango Dog Park thats an off-leash park. In Tampa, some of my favorites to take the pups are Davis Islands(both beach area and land area), Picnic Island which is a very large area for the dogs to run, and Gadsden Park.

Fort Desota (St.Pete) Paw Beach is a great place with friendly dog lovers who all let their dog run free, except for some dog lovers who keep for various reason's their dogs on a leash...

Hillsborough County has 4 dog parks (new one near me in Lutz). The closest to Brandon is the one in Mango. The best one is West Park. More info here Hillsborough County Government Online - Parks - Recreation (http://www.hillsboroughcounty.org/parks/recreation/recreationfacilities.cfm?selrecreation=-1&selcategory=135&zipcode=&submit=Display - broken link)
