I'm enjoying this cold weather too. Of course I'm a native here and have spent most of my life sweating.

Its nice to wear sweatshirts, jackets, and winter clothing instead of shorts and sandals. It won't be long before we're sweltering in the heat again.

I think Floridians don't know how to dress when it gets cold. Last week I was on the golf course in layered clothing, stockingcap, gloves, and couldn't believe that I saw a guy out there in shorts.

I still wouldn't trade Florida weather for the stuff that most of the nation is experiencing every winter.

I like the cold weather although my electric bill does not. Here's the latest:

Statement as of 8:46 PM EST on January 09, 2010

... Hard freeze warning in effect until 9 am EST Sunday...
... Freeze watch remains in effect from Sunday evening through
Monday morning...
... Freeze warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay area - Ruskin FL has
issued a hard freeze warning... which is in effect until 9 am EST
Sunday. The freeze warning continues along the coast and has been
upgraded to a hard freeze warning for inland areas. A freeze
watch remains in effect from Sunday evening through Monday
morning.

Tonight into early Sunday morning temperatures are expected to
fall into the mid 20s inland to around 30 near the coast.
Durations of temperatures at or below 32 degrees are expected to
range from 3 to 6 hours near the coast to 6 to 12 hours inland.
Durations of temperatures at or below 27 degrees are expected to
be 3 to 6 hours across inland areas.

These cold temperatures are expected to continue with another
night of long durations of sub-freezing temperatures late Sunday
night into Monday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A hard freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are
imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and
other sensitive vegetation.

A freeze watch is issued for the potential of a widespread and
damaging freeze within 24 to 48 hours. During the freeze
period... temperatures may remain below 32 degrees for more than
8 hours.

issued a wind chill warning... which is in effect from 3 am to
9 am EST Sunday. The wind chill watch is no longer in effect. A
Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 3 am EST Sunday.

Strong Arctic high pressure will build into the region bringing a
very cold northwest to north flow across the area resulting in
wind chill readings between 15 and 25 degrees over the Nature
Coast and between 30 and 35 elsewhere tonight and Saturday.

Saturday night and Sunday morning will have even colder
temperatures combine with the wind to produce wind chill readings
around 10 degrees over the Nature Coast and around 20 degrees
elsewhere.

The weather has been beautiful the last few days even in the morning. How on earth anyone would prefer the summertime 90's during the day and 80's at night with high humidity is beyond me.

Freezing temperatures are not my idea of a beautiful day.
Millions of dead fish, millons of dollars in crop losses, losses to personal landscaping, koi ponds, etc. are going to be very costly. Not to mention the constant need for heating. Electric bills are going to be sky high.

Freezing is not beautiful.

Back to the 70s tomorrow. I've really enjoyed the colder weather. Hope FLA gets this winter weather on a regular basis.
