How old are you? What's your profession? Any particular reasons you want to be near West Indians?

You could just type in~~~ Tampa Fl detailed profile and it will give you a lot of info on there. One of the things it will tell you is what percentage of each race lives there. You'll have to keep in mind that it's somewhat outdated though. As you know, the last census was in 2000. They do have projections for the year 2004 though.

Another spot you may want to check out is Sperlings Best Places. If you type in the city you want, they'll give you several selections to get info on and one of them is "people".

You mean people from the West Indies??? Or native American people from the West of Florida???

Maybe... Trinidad & Tobago?? I know we have people from Trinidad down here, don't know up there.

To ALL:
Thanks for the very valuable info. The reason I am asking this question is to gauge how successful a business would be that caters for the Caribbean/West Indian population in Tampa.

I'm not an expert of the particular demographics, but I've met very few of them over the years. There may very well be some here however in my experience they seem few and far between. Now a mexican business on the other hand... lol

Just wondering if you got the information you wanted? I live in Montana with my wife from Trinidad & Tobago, and I'd like some information such as what you were looking for.

There is a Carribean Carnival every year in St. Pete at the Vinoy park in June or July. I would do a search for their website and contact them with the questions. Personally, I wish there were more restuarants/grocery stores for West Indian. We just got back from Brooklyn and on every corner there was a place to eat. There are too many in St. Pete and they did not have nearly as much variety as the places in Brooklyn.

I am actually looking to open a West Indian restaurant slightly upscale which is definitely needed in Tampa. You are right "Klcook21" I moved from Brooklyn and there are places on every corner. Thanks for the responses.
