Why is that not a reasonable sampling?

Do you know the population of Hernando County, the bad areas in it, the racial make up of those areas?

I know bad areas that are predominantly white and I know bad areas that are predominantly black. If I am discussing areas with someone it is going to be whether the area is good or bad not how many of each race reside there.

Well, I think the OP was concerned about race-based murders. Hopefully we have all assured the OP that there seems to be consensus among a group of people who don't agree on everything that the original concern is not perceived to be a huge problem.

To find out if the Tampa area has a bad racism problem. The answer is no.

Yes, I got that. I was just playing with the rural sampling regarding what was up until then an urban discussion. I do appreciate your bringing to light that my question could be answered thusly.

I'm not looking for bad news. Nor was I looking for the results I got when I went searching for understanding via the stats. In fact, I was quite surprised with the results when I compared Tampa to Tarpon Springs regarding violent crime.

Having not seen responses to the question other than yours, I do suspect you might be in the minority of anyone who would proffer your response. Glad you spoke up. Thank you. Please forgive my poor humor which I utilize to make a point. I realize I'm not always an easy read.

Somehow Tampa went from being in the top 10 most dangerous cities in America 6 years ago to being the safest city in Florida and one of the safest of its size in America.

I moved here from Boston 6 yrs ago.... There's a catch 22 from North East to South.... etiquette and niceties are still used here.... where as in a colder climb, not so much (who the hell wants to be standing in 20 degree weather sharing simple "bless your heart" stuff... really.....) I feel that Tampa has more going for it due to CentCom and our wonderful men and women that serve. There's no Navy/Air Force/Marine base in Boston... so.... you don't have people that REGULARLY travel around the world, live in different countries for 2-4 yr stints, etc....
