Not "must see" but something to do.........If he likes sports, the Rays (baseball) and Lightning (hockey) seasons will be going on (Spring training baseball and regular season). Lightning tickets are cheap - you can buy from people outside the front of the St Pete Times Forum. Upper deck (300-level) shouldn't cost you more than $10-15/ea.

There's nothing better in my mind than a sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. It will leave a lasting impression of good times shared.

My 8 yr old son really enjoyed the beach at Ft. Desoto. He enjoyed finding the beautiful shells, including intact sand dollars.

You know, I pretty much forgot about The Pier in St. Petersburg until the other day. I gathered up two friends and we went down there. I was surprised at how crowded it was on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. There really isn't enough there to make a day out of it, but it is a nice (and free) thing that provides some great views of St. Pete and Tampa Bay.
