Default like is said,

there are renecks in fla, just not to the extent. i have lived in both places (nc and fla), so i know. s fla has very few (there are exceptions) but not many. central fla and n fla of course there are some ... many places are rural in fla.

but they are not everywhere like nc/sc. it doesnt take a genius to know that, if you have spent time in both places for a while.

Red face FL to Tennessee maybe

Hey, anybody who advertises that a place is great (like Tennesse) is trying to make a buck. It's propaganda. The place may sound great in the ads--BUT some people will like it there and some won't. If a person would like to try an area, especially if there are reasons for leaving the place you now live, then go there and rent an apartment. Try and get a leave of absence from your job at home and get a (temporary) job over there. Rent out your house on a short lease or at least save enough to pay the mortgage and any expenses. Try to stay a while--aim for at least a month if not more. Many people can get a feel for a place given some period of time and if they act like they actually moved and live there. At least you can come home IF you do not like it. If you are not sure what you want, TRY not to burn your bridges behind you.

They have those ads in The Herald (as in Miami, for non locals ) too. Not just TN, but also GA, NC, even WY! Maybe these "developers" pick states that seem to have alot of people relocating, or were hit by a few hurricanes...

Wink move to Tennessee ads

Hey, look at the ads for toothpaste-sex appeal. Look at the ads for a car-does the bimbo come with it as a standard feature? How about junk food ads for kids during Saturday morning cartoons? You NEED this, you gotta have that, layaway deals, credit cards, buy now pay later, buy buy buy..... Why is advertising places, houses, and new communities such a surprise? You gotta be a discerning consumer!! LOL

Yeah... one of the ads really blew me away... had some buffalo's in it, too. Can you imagine going from ocean views to buffalo's?? I guess it's ok for some if it's there home, but being born here I don't know..I had like this immediate mental flash in my mind I went, "ohh my God, I think the real estate /ins. worries are melting from my brain..."

You know...when I was a kid my father got a temporary job in Brooklyn and we moved there for a bit. Actually, we lived in an Italian household. They were the warmest/most welcoming people we have ever met in our lives - it's like they adopted us. My ma learned to cook all the Italian dishes, which are my favorites till this day. Though, they quit speaking to us when we moved back here...looking back I think they were hurt.

As for TN & NC , I visited there about 15 yrs ago, & all I can say is that for the first time in my life I heard a pretty racist remark that I hadn't heard yet. On a positive note, coming from flat land, some of the mountain landscapes, creeks, wildlife were simply beautiful.

Guys! What's wrong with buffalos?! That's funny that it "freaked you out" so much! They're such beautiful creatures! Don't get me wrong - I love where I live, (you got it right in the other post lulu! Dade rules! Thanks for the kind words too!) but that would be nice to live on "prairie" land and see buffalo! "Oh give me a home..."

woo hoo!!! hooray for Dade Countian's!!!

Ohhh...no, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Buffalo's & definitely beautiful animals, but I mean it in the sense that they are advertising to Florida residents whom are used to the ambiance of beaches, scuba diving, sands, sea gulls, conch, gators, yep even hurricane's & mosquito's - you know a tropical atmosphere & it seems like a drastic change for a Floridian that was born here. I don't know..... I'm curious as to whom will bite?? I just think it's hilarious how the sellling highlights are "low ins., no hurricanes...!" I guess some people like full out changes, are adaptable or are even from there originally & might go for it.
Yeah backtofla, I know you are kidding...in TN for the first time in my life I heard the n word too in a very normal conversation between two locals.. Though, I didn't encounter any personal face to face remarks as I'm white, look & dress very mainstream American, so I don't stand out & sort of fade in the atmosphere, but I'm definitely from a very different world. For me hearing things like that even if not directed at me in a normal
manner are hurtful to me. Anyway, I think it's just a normal thing there...I don't think they give it a second thought or that they do it in a malicious way, maybe it's part of the culture? I did enjoy the experience in the nature part of it & sitting on top of a mountain and just looking dreamingly at the smoky mountains - beautiful views. We have friends that went w/us on that trip & are living there now. Haven't heard from them in a long time...they've invited us, but... I agree with bamboosmom that it's a nice place to visit as a tourist and others might even find their dream home there, who knows??? To each their own...
