Just like any large city you will find many people that like to drink around Tampa.
Based on rankings from CDC data of the 35 largest metro areas Tampa is in the #24 spot for drunkest metro areas. So nowhere near the top but you can definitely find a bunch of places to have a few.

Brandon Woman Gets 15 Years For DUI Manslaughter

Seems like Tampa newspapers are filled with these kinds of stories, unfortunately. Its a real concern for me - night or day driving - especially driving through intersections where DUIs drive through red lights and can T-bone anyone.

Every newspaper in every city is filled with those type of stories.
Death and destruction sells papers.

Driving while intoxicated is reprehensible - but unfortunately, people get so many second chances. Frequently hear stories about drivers continuing to be allowed to drive even with multiple offenses.

Default Zingo

Yes, Zingo is the greatest thing on earth, and way better than riding home in a cab. Their drivers are awesome

I have been telling so many people here about the Zingo service. We all think it is awesome and get a laugh out of it. I cannot wait to be smashed and watch a guy show up on a little foldable scooter, put it in my car, drive me home, unfold his scotter and drive off into the darkness. I will have my video camera out for sure, and tip well of course!

Any chance in heck these guys would drive you home to Riverview from Ybor?

Tampa is a major party town - Gasparilla Festival early in the year, Guavaween late in the year - both occasions to consume huge amounts of beer.

Maxim magazine also named Tampa as #6 party town in the US (ahead of New Orleans) here is a short excerpt from that article:

************************************************** *

"Maxim also noted the city's relatively high median age, but considers that to be mitigated by fondness for beer: 'Citizens down 5.41 cases of beer at home annually.'

Bill Gieseking, director of marketing for Pepin Distributing, doesn't dispute the figure. About 14 million cases of beer are sold each year in Hillsborough and part of Pasco County, said Gieseking, whose company sells Budweiser. 'It's a good market for beer consumption because it is an active lifestyle market, good weather and a growing population,' he said."

************************************************** ****

So I think it's safe to say Tampa likes it's beer. (and imbibing in general)

Default Zingo

Yes, Zingo will take you anywhere you want to go in your car. My ride I take with them is usually about 5-7$ more than a cab ride cost to my house. Well worth the extra dough to have my car fo sho
